Founded by the Empire Group…
Elk Environmental Services was founded in 1988 by the Empire Group, as an environmental waste transportation company to complement their already successful demolition and excavation business, Empire Services , founded in 1955 as Empire Wrecking.
Since beginning operations in 1988, Elk Environmental quickly evolved into a full-service industrial and environmental remediation and waste management services firm. For almost 30 years, Elk continued to grow – broadening its line of services, expanding its service area, building an experienced team, and attaining additional licenses and certifications.
Today, Elk serves clients throughout Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic states. Elk’s expert staff provides services including 24-hour emergency response , environmental remediation, waste management, field services, industrial cleaning, vacuum truck services, storage tank removal, hazardous and non-hazardous transportation and disposal, lab packing, and more than 40 safety and compliance training courses.
In 2011, the company added the Elk Oil & Gas Division, which operates from an office in the Williamsport, PA, area. The Elk Oil & Gas Division serves producers in the Marcellus and Utica Shale oil and gas industry with transportation and disposal of waste and industrial cleaning services.
Elk works closely with the other five subsidiary companies within the Empire Group to provide clients with services including demolition, excavation, utility repairs, directional drilling, and transportation.
