Technical Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager (TPM) to assist the Technical/Safety Manager in the direction of staff and functions of our Operations Department. The TPM will actively work with the Sales Department and customers to complete waste management projects in a timely, cost-effective manner. This position will also be accountable for maintaining relationships with house customers as well as attaining and maintaining qualified vendors. This position requires a strong technical/chemistry background, excellent client and project management skills, proven ability to do hands-on technical work when needed, and the ability to lead technical projects and teams. Successful candidates must be proactive, capable of independently solving complex technical problems, and able to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the overall direction of staff and technical functions of the Operations Department
- Work independently or lead small technical teams
- Support and train technical staff
- Manage and maintain effective relationships with current house customers, providing sales and customer support (including on-site visits) as necessary
- Integrate with the Sales Department to finish waste management projects in a timely, cost-effective manner
- Work closely with the Sales Department to manage and implement customer requests and resolve issues
- Review quality and improve customer interactions
- Identify facilities/vendors, maintain information on their capabilities and technologies, and review and recommend vendors to customers
- Maintain effective relationships with facilities
- Manage the preparation, receipt, and analytical results of waste samples
- Maintain working knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Miscellaneous activities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field
- Minimum two years of waste disposal experience
- Hazardous waste disposal experience required
- Fundamental computer knowledge and skills
- Ability to work well without direct supervision
- Ability to multi-task effectively
- Effective communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
