Lab Pack Chemist
Elk Environmental Services is currently seeking an energetic individual to join our operations department as a Lab Pack Chemist. This position reports directly to the Field Services Manager and works closely with technical staff. Candidates must be able to work overtime and travel occasionally as needed.
Responsibilities
- Handling, packing, and categorizing products and materials in strict compliance with federal and state regulations
- Preparing documentation such as inventory records, shipping papers, and certification of disposal or recycling for clients
- Providing support to the Technical Coordinator and Field Services Technicians
- Assisting with other miscellaneous operations functions
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and supervisory skills
- Self-motivated, hardworking, and dedicated
- Thorough understanding of chemical interaction
- Ability to utilize chemistry knowledge in chemical segregation
- Familiarity with technical and business components of environmental services
- Comprehensive understanding of DOT and EPA regulations
- Ability to perform labor-intensive activities (e.g., able to move heavy drums)
Knowledge and Experience
- A degree in chemistry or related field from an accredited institution
- At least one year of experience lab packing in the waste management industry
